Rachel Engel currently lives and works in Louisville, KY. Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she received her MFA in photography from Massachusetts College of Art and design and her BA in photography from Columbia College Chicago. She is interested in the boundaries of things, both materially and conceptually. She works with photography, handmade paper, and handmade books and focuses on personal history, the relationship between image and memory, and the limits of both.
